How It Works

Mobile Movement has partnered with the United Nations agency UN-HABITAT and Environmental Youth Alliance - a Canadian non-profit organization - for our first initiative in Nairobi, Kenya. All of the 15 youth groups have been chosen by UN-HABITAT as part of the "Urban Entrepreneurship Program".

Here is what you do:

  1. Review the projects of the youth groups and select one that interests you.

If you want to ask a question or communicate with a group, write a comment on their group page.

  2. This comment goes directly to the youth group's phone.

They will respond via text message or email.

Mobile Movement will notify you by text message or email that the youth group has responded to your comment.

  3. You can give creative business ideas, microfinance a project, be a mentor or offer a community grant.

If you choose to donate funds, there are two ways: a "Business Loan" or a "Community Grant".

Business Loans will go to groups with high potential business ventures. In turn, the groups will pay back the loans to a fund, which will be redistributed to other group's business ventures through an application process administered by Environmental Youth Alliance. Community Grants are for youth groups with philanthropic projects that benefit the community. These grants will not be repaid.
